Manager of Learning and Evaluation

The Manager of Learning and Evaluation plays a key role in leading and advancing learning, evaluation, and data-driven decision-making for the organization. This position is responsible for designing and managing evaluation frameworks, monitoring population health metrics, supporting grantee learning efforts, and helping assess the overall impact of the foundation’s investments. The role also focuses on building community and nonprofit capacity around data and evaluation, coordinating internal learning initiatives, and sharing insights that shape strategy. Working cross-functionally with staff, partners, and grantees, the manager ensures evaluation efforts are actionable, collaborative, and aligned with our mission to improve the health and well-being of La Porte County residents. The successful candidate will be able to: 

  • Lead strategic, organization-wide evaluation and learning initiatives

  • Develop frameworks to measure short-, medium-, and long-term impact

  • Collaborate with grantees to strengthen evaluation and learning capacity

  • Manage projects that improve access to and use of health-related community data

  • Prepare reports and present findings to internal and external audiences

  • Facilitate strategic learning opportunities across the organization


 

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a related discipline preferred

  • 5–10 years of experience in evaluation, research, public health, philanthropy, or a related field

  • 2–5 years of experience in project or people management

  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods

  • Familiarity with public health, healthcare systems, or nonprofit organizations preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present data effectively to diverse audiences

  • Ability to synthesize data, identify patterns, and extract actionable insights

  • Proficiency in evaluation frameworks, tools, and methodologies  

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Customer service mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving

  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-directed, intellectually curious, and comfortable with complexity and ambiguity

  • Committed to continuous learning and advancing community health outcomes
